The Federal government has available tax credits for energy efficient gas water heaters, furnaces, heat pumps and central air conditioning units. Many energy companies, including Consumers Energy in the Tri City area are also offering tax rebates for Energy Star products installed by contractors. Many water heaters qualify for this program with rebates starting at $35 up to $150. In addition there are rebates for furnaces, heat pumps and central air ranging from $100-$350.
